A Stranger Paid for Our Groceries When We Had Nothing

We were counting coins in the checkout line and quietly deciding what to put back. I felt embarrassed and exhausted, and my son kept asking if we had enough for the cereal.

Before I could answer, a woman behind us stepped forward and told the cashier she wanted to pay for everything. She did not make a scene. She just smiled and said, God has been kind to me, and I want to pass it on.
